CAPRIA VENTURES
Managing Partner

Susana Garcia-Robles joined Capria Ventures in March 2020, first as a Venture Partner, becoming Senior Partner at the end of 2020, and Managing Partner in 2023. She brings to Capria 24 years of experience being at the forefront of innovation, entrepreneurship, and high-impact investing; building bridges between countries and regions to improve dynamic ecosystems worldwide; and supporting high-growth entrepreneurship among women in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).  As Managing Partner, her responsibilities include transferring her deep knowledge on building ecosystems to other Capria target regions, portfolio management, being a member of investment committees, fundraising, investor relations, and leading investments in frontier markets, especially LATAM and SSA/MENA. She is a Senior Advisor, member of the Women’s Council and former Board member of the Association for Private Capital Investment in Latin America (LAVCA).

Her career in investing in VC funds and building entrepreneurial ecosystems started in 1999 when she joined the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), becoming the main architect of its investment strategy for early-stage funds and startups. During this time, she analyzed and coached thousands of seed and VC funds and startup founders in LAC and invested and managed $300+M in 90 funds –many of them first-time fund managers–. Managing a large portfolio of funds and their underlying companies, as well as the IDB Lab direct investments, she has a proven track record in sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and closing investments, as well as building ecosystems in frontier markets. In 2012 she co-founded Wexchange, (now housed at IDB), the first networking platform and pitch competition for LAC women STEMpreneurs which has dramatically improved women’s access to funding. In 2019 she co-founded WeInvest Latam, a platform for women investors who has LATAM as the main region of focus.

An avid supporter of ecosystems, she is a co-founder of the  Argentinean VC/PE association/ARCAP and the Colombian VC/PE association /Colcapital. She served on the Advisory Boards of the Brazilian VC/PE association /ABVCAP and on the Board of Directors of Village Capital (2020-2023),  and currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Argentinean VC/PE association/ARCAP, ForoMET, the Future Perfect Ventures Fund, and the CITES company builder/fund, the Elevar Equity Fund, the IThink VC fund, as well as in the investment committee of the Bancoldex Fund of Funds (Colombia) and the Fondo de Capital para Emprendimientos Innovadores (Peruvian Fund of Funds from COFIDE).

For her pioneering work in LAC and her efforts to make the VC industry more inclusive, she’s been dubbed “the godmother of VC in LAC.”  Americas Quarterly recognized her as one of the five 2020 Top Champions on Gender Equality.  She has coined the term “Made in LAC”, “Hecho en América Latina y el Caribe” when referring to the innovation coming out of this region, an informal brand that represents innovation with a clear social and environmental awareness to solve problems suffered by millions in emerging markets. Ms. Garcia-Robles has master’s degrees in Philosophy and Education from the Universidad Catolica of Argentina and in International Relations with a concentration on International Economic Policies from Columbia University.
